Working as an Associate Business Analyst for OCS Consulting Ltd., Martin carried out full Business Analysis for the upgrade of an in-house Specification Management solution for a major UK High Street food retailer. The aim of the improvement project is to have a robust and reliable solution to track and report allergy and nutritional information for all revisions of products sold to customers. Key design principles involved improved workflow and approval management of dependent specifications and integration with a proprietary food ingredient specification solution.
Martin led a series of user interviews with multiple end-client stakeholders and collated requirements and design proposals.
This project is now in the build phase, for deployment in mid-2019.
While working for Unilever, Martin was responsible for leading the implementation of a Supply Chain optimisation solution from conception to production. He consulted to understand the problem (variable BOMs within constraints to achieve optimal least-cost buying shipping and blending plan) and worked with external consultants to build proof of concept. He coordinated the pilot preparation (data and scenarios). and delivered a global webinar to show findings and gain business buy in. Martin collaborated on development of Unilever's own tea categorisation standards which still form the basis of the optimisation process, and ensured the correct systems and processes were in place to manage it. Implementation of the optimiser led to immediate Eur4m savings due to coordinated global demand reducing the pressure that Unilever placed on global tea markets, in addition to reducing raw tea inventory.
We have worked with the management team of a London-based imaging centre to understand how business capacity and revenue could be optimised. By listening carefully and fully understanding the business needs, the Director's vision was realised and deployed with rigour and structure. The project involved the prototyping and development of a suite of bespoke tools to capture and report complex calendar queries, manage, generate and assess product pricing structures and forecast short- and long-term occupancy & revenue.
With an extremely fast turnaround, GHC consulted with Brown Et Al on a bespoke rules-based solution to post-process outputs from a leading workforce management optimisation tool for a global aircraft cleaning & servicing business. The resulting scalable and configurable algorithm ensures that the correctly skilled team members are assigned to the correct teams and shifts.
Consulted with Global Tea Blending experts to design and deploy an automated process to ensure that the correct batches of tea are selected and blended to maintain a consistent brand blend quality and taste, while reducing warehouse inventory of partially loaded pallets. The proposed solution was successfully prototyped in MS Excel and the rules fully agreed with a global team before the closed design was handed over to delivery partners to successfully deploy in 3 different SAP ERP environments.
Working for a major high street retailer, GHC quickly developed a standalone solution to capture differently structured budget data from multiple sources, apply various processing rules and output in a consistent and traceable format. This solution relies heavily on the application of consistent master data and mapping rules to ensure all input budget is accounted for when it is collated and output in a completely different format.
The list above is just a small representation of the projects that the members of the Gray House Consulting team have worked on over the years. If you would like to discuss if we can help your business solve a data or process problem, please get in touch.
